The Parks and Wildlife Service at the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions has issued a smoke alert for Margaret River through to Prevelly .
The smoke is the result of a prescribed burn being carried out 5km south-east of Margaret River today.
The smoke is expected to clear by midday tomorrow.
A Smoke Alert has also been issued for south of Bunbury including Boyanup, Capel and Busselton .
The Parks and Wildlife Service is conducting a prescribed burn 10km east of Dardanup today, which may produce smoke in the area. This burn has been identified as high priority, reducing fuel loads and assisting in protecting the area.
Smoke is expected to clear by midday tomorrow (Saturday May 19).
WHAT TO DO:
If the smoke is particularly thick, it is recommended people shut doors and windows and turn off air-conditioners.
Smoke may reduce visibility on some roads and motorists should take care, turn on headlights and travel at appropriate speeds when travelling in these areas.
People with asthma and pre-existing respiratory or cardiovascular illnesses should follow their pre-prepared treatment plan.
People with conditions exacerbated by smoke should take precautions in line with their medical advice for these circumstances.
