Mildura Rural City Council is making efforts to make tax time seem less daunting for those who struggle with the process - with the Tax Help Program.
The program is a volunteer run service to help eligible locals complete their personal income tax return as a part of the Australian Taxation Office's (ATO) Tax Help Program.
Those who struggle to understand English, have never completed a tax return before, or earn less than $60,000 or so per year are eligible to receive free help.
The scheme is run through volunteers in the community; and is not able to assist with income for business, investment properties, rent, voluntary agreements or royalties.
Locals can make appointments with Council's Deakin Avenue offices until October.
