Locals travelling on the Sturt Highway at Gol Gol will have to adhere to a new speed limit from today.
From 80 metres east of Dawn Avenue to 120 metres west of Carramar Drive, drivers will need to stick to the 60 kilometres per hour.
NSW Roads and Maritime have made the call as a part of an ongoing effort to make the section of roads safer for motorists and pedestrians.
Electronic messaging signs have been put into place to notify locals of the new reduced speed limits.
The crash rate of this section is reportedly almost double the average for this type of road.
The decision was made based on a review of the stretch of road’s crash history, road geometry, road usage, traffic volumes and number of access points.
