The State Government has announced a new regional skills program to support vulnerable workers, boost skills and create more jobs in the Mallee.
$395,454 has been handed down to help Shaping Futures deliver the Innovative Workforce Cluster Sunraysia Employment Program project.
The support comes as a part of the Government's Regional Skills Fund.
The initiative will work to improve knowledge sharing between Mallee Industry leaders, training providers, community organisations and government departments.
As a part of the program, partnerships with key industry leaders will be established to provide industry identified skills training in the horticulture sector; including Cozwine, Olam and SuniTafe.
The program will focus on pre-employment training for locals, and work to boost skills in the traditional harvest labor workforce.
The scheme is expected to create at least 126 full time equivalent roles in the Mallee by mid-2020.
