Relief for storm ravaged growers.

Sunraysia can expect to see the establishment of a Recovery Officer in the wake of last year’s Remembrance Day storms.

The Mildura Rural City Council has receive $120,000 from the State Government to fund an officer to work closely with growers and the community to put our industries back on track.

Grants of up to $25,000 have been made available to primary producers hit hard during the storms, only those within the Mildura Rural City Council region are eligible.

Local Police are appealing for information after a three person attack earlier this month.

In more Police news, a man has escaped with more than $3,000 worth of cigarettes after a robbery at the Irymple General Store.

It's believed the offender kicked through the front door of the shop just before midnight on Tuesday using a hammer to break into the cigarette cabinet.

CCTV caught the man packing cigarettes into a garbage bag and fleeing the scene.


Murray MP Adrian Piccoli has refused to speculate on who might be the next leader of the Liberal Party and Premier of NSW after Mike Baird's retirement from politics.

The Premier dropped the bombshell yesterday via Twitter citing family reasons.

Mr Piccoli praised Mike Baird's leadership saying that his economic management has put NSW in a much stronger position and he's confident whoever replaces him next week will be up to the task.


Mildura's Apex Park will re-open to the public today with the boat ramp and public toilets accessible from 5pm.

The local council and contractors have been working for weeks to restore the area after it was battered by flooding and last year’s Remembrance Day storm.

The council advises that while most things are back operating maintenance work is continuing on some things like the walking trail.

The Apex Caravan Park is scheduled to open on Australia Day Weekend.


The Sunraysia Cricket Association moves into Round 10 tomorrow as Workers Gol Gol and Mildura East go head to head at Carramar Drive.
