A new cold call scam is doing the rounds in New South Wales with Police advising locals like those in Wentworth Shire to be wary of any caller requesting that they download a software program on their computer.

The current scam has seen victims download the program which then causes a number of error messages to appear due to being hacked.

The caller will then request that money be sent overseas in order to help Police make arrests.

Locals are again being reminded to never give a cold caller access to their computer and if they’re a victim of this scam report it to Police.
