The Wentworth Shire Council have responded to media reports of irrigators compromising the Murray Darling Basin Plan.

ABC TV program, Four Corners, has alleged that cotton farmers have taken water from the Barwon-Darling during an embargoed period in 2015.

Wentworth Shire Council Mayor, Melissa Hederics, says that water is a precious resource, and most people comply with the regulations in regards to its use.

 

The Climate Council's begun a partnership program for local councils across the country with evidence communities like ours are leading the push to reduce emissions compared to the State and Federal Governments.

It encourages rural & regional Australian residents to transition towards renewable energy technologies like wind and solar.

Chief Climate Councillor Professor, Tim Flannery, wants Sunraysia's Victorian councils to make the pledge.

 

A 40-year-old Mildura man has been charged in relation to the vandalism of three war memorials over the last week.

Mildura Police identified the man via CCTV footage with the man being arrested and charged with 7 counts of criminal damage.

Police have confirmed the graffiti was linked to three Langtree Avenue shop fronts with the man to face Mildura Magistrate's Court at a later date.

 

We are being urged to take control of our health and get checked for Hepatitis B and C with health bodies putting out the call as a part of Hepatitis Awareness Week.

Getting a Hepatitis B test is particularly important for those born overseas in countries of high prevalence along with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.

  

The Bendigo Pioneers football factory has done it again this year by producing seven potential AFL draft prospects from the 2017 TAC Cup Under 18 football competition.

They're among a shortlist of 89 AFL players headed to a draft combine in October.

Among those testing their strength and skills will be Wentworth's Jarrod Brander and South Mildura's Lochie O'Brien.
