Sporting Clubs grants program apps open.

Police responded to an incident on George Chaffey Bridge in Mildura yesterday with

Officers receiving reports of a woman threatening to self-harm.

The woman was taken to hospital as Police resolved the incident with no threats being made to public safety.


Grants for updated equipment, up skilling volunteers and coaches, improving operational effectiveness and introducing new participants are now open for local clubs and organisations.

Funding of up to $5,000 is available through the 2017-2018 Sporting Clubs Grants program.

The scheme now has a new category to encourage Aboriginal participation with Nationals Member for Mildura, Peter Crisp, saying that any club can apply.


Landowners are being urged to attend a sustainable farming workshop hosted by the Western Local Land Services. 

Producers have the chance to hear from Soil Save trainer, Darry Hill, an expert on earthmoving techniques to prevent soil erosion along access tracks, fence lines and pipelines.

One of the three workshops will be held on the 7th of July at the Anabranch Hall via Wentworth.

Western Local Land Services Rangeland Rehabilitation Officer, Paul Theakston, says that the workshops are all about practicality.


Sunraysia residents are being reminded to stay alert when receiving calls about taxes with cold calls and online frauds, or, scams at large this time of year.

Police are reminding us that the Australian Tax Office will never threaten anyone with an immediate arrest, ask you to pay money to receive a refund, or, ask you to provide personal information like your tax file number or credit card number.

Officials are urging the public to never engage with the caller and to hang up immediately. 


The Azzco Engineering Mildura Lady Heat will be hitting the court this Saturday night to take on the Werribee Devils in the Big V's Division One Women's competition.

Our girls will be in action again on Sunday as they go head-to-head with the Keilor Thunder to round out a challenging road trip.
