Sunraysia will see a $1m grant from the Victorian Government to tackle our fruit fly problem in the region.

The Sunraysia Daily reports that the grant will be announced today as part of the $6.7 m dedicated to reducing fruit fly numbers across North West Victoria and areas with high pest numbers across the greater Sunraysia, Yarra Valley and Goulburn Murray Valley.

The funding will go toward a mass baiting program set to be implemented toward the middle of this year. The money will also pay for the removal of host trees, new hygiene officers and education sessions for the community to learn more about vital issues affecting our horticulture industry.

Mr Crisp says "there are many women in the area who come from a diverse range of working backgrounds and are trailblazing in their industry”.
