The State Government has announced a move for local safety, with an additional 17 CCTV cameras set to be installed throughout the CBD and along the riverfront precincts.
Mildura Rural City Council has been provided over $234,000 in funding, under the Government's Public Safety Infrastructure Fund.
These cameras are set to be installed throughout these areas, as well as outside some licensed premises and the Mildura Skate Park to help reduce crime.
The footage will be monitored by local officers at Mildura Police Station.
Corrections Minister Gayle Tierney has visited Mildura, meeting with local Police and inspecting sites for the Mildura Community Safety Project.
Police numbers in Mildura also getting a boost, with 12 family violence specialists already allocated to the division.
