With hot, dry and windy conditions predicted, the New South Wales Rural Fire Service is set to suspend fire permits across the Wentworth and Balranald Local Government Areas.
The suspension will go into effect from midnight on the 17th of December, and will continue through to 9 am on Monday the 15th of January.
Locals across the South-West region are being reminded of the serious penalties that apply for starting a fire without a permit during the Bush Fire Danger Period.
RFS Superintendent Steve Walker says it only takes small error, and that error can lead to a major incident within the community.
Locals who are looking for an exemption during this time are urged to contact Dareton Fire Control Center.
