Police conduct thousands of preliminary breath tests across the long weekend

The results are for the Queen's Birthday Long Weekend, Victoria Police wrapping up Operation Regal.

 

5 people have died across the period, Police saying they feel for the families of the deceased.

 

Over 137,000 preliminary breath tests and over 2000 roadside drug tests were carried out.

 

 

227 drink drivers and 148 drug drivers detected across the 4 days.

 

Over 3000 speeding offences have been detected, while 574 unlicensed, disqualified or suspended drivers were caught on the road.

 

670 people have reportedly been caught disobeying signs or signals.

 

Assistant Commissioner Doug Fryer says he’s concerned by the number of people driving impaired on our roads.
