If you're a Western Sydney resident you may have caught sight of a seal sunning itself by the Parramatta River.
According to Nine News, the rare sighting means river's water quality is sealing the deal, following a campaign to make the catchment safe for swimmers by 2025.
Locals said the seal hung by Silverwater Jetty last Wednesday for about 10 minutes or so, before scooting off around 2pm.
“I can’t believe there’s a seal in Silverwater, how can this be,” one resident explained.
“Seeing a seal didn’t enter my mind.”
The uptake of marine animals come with the expansion of four swimming locations by the river’s edge, currently Cabarita, Dawn Fraser baths, Chiswick baths and Parramatta Lake.
