A firefighter has helped rescue a father and two children from a blaze in Sydney's north-west, before rushing to hospital for the birth of his child.
The fire at a house at The Ponds broke out at approximately 7am this morning, with neighbours responding to cries for help from the two young children.
After they were safely removed from danger, it was discovered that their father was trapped inside.
According to 7 News, he was stuck in the bathroom and was disoriented following the thick smoke that billowed from the house and blanketed the street.
Fire fighters were able to free the man, before one of the firies on the team received a call to say that his wife had gone into labour.
