M1 Closed In Both Directions Following Truck Fire 9 News

The M1 has been closed in both directions after a truck fire earlier this afternoon.

Emergency services have responded to the scene at Cooranbong, in the Lake Macquarie region.

Police are yet to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.

NSW Rural Fire Service is currently attending to the crash, and it is understood that the truck driver managed to self-evacuate.


Motorists are advised to avoid the area, with the M1 expected to be closed for sometime.

The southbound traffic is queued for approximately 4km, which is adding roughly 25 minutes to travel time.

Northbound traffic has a 3km backlog, with an extra 20 minutes travel time.

According to livetraffic.com.au, traffic is also heavy in the Morisset area, with spotfires near the incident.
