Man Charged After Woman Hit And Killed By Garbage Truck 7 News

A man has been charged after a woman was hit and killed by a garbage truck in Dee Why yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Moorilla Street, Dee Why just after 11.45am.

The 58-year-old grandmother was hit by the truck while walking with her grandson, who was found in a pram nearby after the incident.

Witnesses assisted the woman until the NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived at the scene.

The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit commenced inquiries, with the 27-year-old driver of the truck taken to Manly Hospital for mandatory testing.

At 8pm yesterday, he was taken to Manly Police Station and subsequently charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Manly Local Court on Wednesday, March 7.
