A tense 12-hour stand-off has ended, with a man arrested following a police operation in Chatswood yesterday.
Police were called to Brown Street, Chatswood shortly before 6.30am on Monday and discovered the body of a woman, believed to be in her 30s.
After 7am, police saw a man lying on the awning over a 27th floor balcony of a nearby apartment block.
Over 12 hours later, he was arrested by officers attached to the NSW Police Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit.
The man is reported to be in his 30s is in custody assisting police after he was helped from the awning of a high-rise block of flats.
He is now under police guard at Royal North Shore Hospital.
An investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances of the woman's death.
