Police are appealing for assistance in locating two girls, aged 12 and 13, who are missing from Sydney's south-west.

Audreyha Audreyha, 12, from Lakemba and Purnima Shrestha, 13, from Burwood, were last seen near Redfern Station at 3.15pm yesterday.

There are serious concerns for their welfare, with police notified after the girls failed to return to their homes in the evening.

Audreyha is described as being of Indian sub-continental appearance with a dark complexion and black hair. She is 150 centimetres tall and of a medium build.

She was last seen wearing a red polo shirt with navy sleeves, navy shorts and carrying a light-blue backpack.

Purnima is described as being of Asian appearance with an olive complexion, about 140-150 centimetres tall and a slim build.

She was wearing a white top, navy shorts, black shoes and carrying a black backpack.

Officers from Burwood and Campsie Commands are conducting inquiries and urging anyone with information to contact the police.
