Former Auburn Deputy Mayor Salim Mehajer has been arrested as part of police investigations into a car crash in Lidcombe last year.
The collision involving his Mercedes AMG and a Mitsubishi Outlander occurred at 8.45am on Monday 16 October.
The controversial property developer ended up in Westmead Hospital after being freed from his car by firefighters and being treated by paramedics.
Police say Mehajer's passenger and the occupants of the Mitsubishi - two women aged 31 and 32 - were not injured in the accident.
Strike Force Reppan investigators arrested Mehajer at a home in Vaucluse just before 7am this morning, along with a 28 year old man at Lidcombe.
They are expected to face charges of pervert the course of justice and conspiracy to cheat and defraud.
A 30 year old man and 31 year old woman were also arrested at a home in Lidcombe, police expect they too will face conspiracy to cheat and defraud charges.
