Some State Transit buses have had seats removed to accommodate wheelchairs as the Invictus Games gets underway in Sydney next week.

Seven modified buses have been put into service, with extra trains to run during the eight-day competition.

The buses will operate to venues around the Olympic Park area, as well as to the opening ceremony at the Opera House on the weekend.

"What an incredible platform to drive disability awareness across our community," Transport Minister Andrew Constance said.

"The Invictus Games are so incredibly special."

The Invictus Games are a multi-sport event held for sick, injured or wounded armed service personnel, launched by Prince Harry back in 2014.
