Detectives say they are "definitely suspicious" after a body was found in a Sydney park by a local council worker.
The homicide squad is investigating after the body was discovered near a playground in Buffalo Creek Reserve at Hunters Hill on Wednesday morning.
Detective Superintendent David Waddell says NSW Police are yet to determine if the victim - who was clothed - was male or female.
"There's been no identification at this stage - it's very early stages," he told reporters in Sydney.
"(But) we are treating it (the death) as suspicious. At this stage, it's definitely suspicious."
A crime scene has been established at the reserve and officers - who were called to the park about 7.30am - are speaking to locals and seeking CCTV footage.
Det Supt Waddell refused to comment on media reports that drag marks stretching 30 metres were discovered near the body.
Extensive police tape now surrounds the brightly-coloured playground as detectives investigate how the person died.
