Sydney Is Getting A $7.5 Million Bridge For Animals Nine News

A new purpose-built animal bridge is set to be constructed in Sydney to link the Garigal and Ku-ring-gai National Parks for animals in the area.

NSW Roads Minister Melinda Pavey said the $7.5 million project would include vegetation to entice native animal species to cross the 40-metre overpass, located at the Mona Vale Road West upgrade, Nine News reports.

“We want to ensure that area, surrounded by two National Parks – a very important area, part of the lungs of Sydney – that we protect that native wildlife by putting in the appropriate infrastructure to protect them into the future,” Ms Pavey said.

With work set to commence later in 2018, the bridge forms part of a greater $150 million upgrade that will widen Mona Vale Road from two to four lanes.
