Teenage Water-skiing Champ Dies After Race Accident

A 13 year old boy from Sydney's North-West has died following a devastating water skiing accident, which left him critically injured.

Blake Tickell was flown to Westmead Children's Hospital after falling heavily during a race on Saturday afternoon.

His father Darren has paid tribute to his "best mate" on a moving post on Facebook.

"He died doing what he was so passionate about", he wrote.

"Bakey was wise beyond his years, an old soul , had love for everybody, and will forever be in our hearts".

Blake was competing in the Ski Racing NSW state titles at Wyangala Dam, in the state's central west.

The Rouse Hill Rhinos Junior Rugby League Club has also paid tribute to the rising sports champion, saying the community is devastated.

Blake played in the Grand Final winning team in 2016.
