Teenage Woman Punched In The Face By Man On The Train

Police are investigating after woman was assaulted on a train in Sydney's south-west yesterday evening.

According to NSW Police, a man walked past a woman on the carriage of a train between Canley Vale and Fairfield at approximately 9.30pm when an argument took place.

The man is understood to have later returned to the carriage and sat next to an 18-year-old woman, before punching her in the face and hitting her with a tripod.

Several fellow commuters managed to restrain the man, however he broke free and escaped.

The woman sustained minor injuries.

She attended Fairfield Police Station along with other witnesses.
