The Sydney Suburbs Hit Worst By Storms

If you live in Sydney's north-west, it's bad news as the summer storm season approaches.

Data from NRMA Insurance shows that the suburbs of St Ives, Rouse Hill, Wahroonga, Turramurra, Beaumont Hills, Castle Hill, Pymble, Glenhaven, Kellyville and Hornsby were worst affected by storms in the 2016-2017 summer.

A freakish hailstorm in February also resulted in a large number of claims, with more than 830 jobs for Fire and Rescue NSW in one day.

This is a pretty large stat, since there were 600 jobs handled in the whole of 2016, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Figures released by the Insurance Council of Australia show that there were 15,00 claims from across NSW worth approximately $39 million.

According to NRMA Insurance, 52 per cent of all home claims made in the last financial year were due to storm damage, with damage to cars and roofing leading the list.
