Traffic Stopped In Both Directions On M1 Pacific Motorway

UPDATE: Two northbound lanes of the M1 Pacific Highway Motorway have reopened at Berowra.

All northbound diversions off the M1 and onto the Pacific Highway have been lifted, but northbound traffic remains heavy.

Earlier, a truck driver is trapped after his tanker overturned on the Pacific Motorway north of Sydney, closing both sides of the road.

Emergency services are working to free the driver after the vehicle, believed to be carrying bitumen, flipped near the Berowra exit of the M1 shortly before 12.30pm on Thursday, according to Fire & Rescue NSW.

The Transport Management Centre is advising motorists to expect significant delays with diversions in place.

The M1 Pacific Motorway is closed in both directions at Berowra due to a truck crash near the Berowra Exit at Berowra.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and delay all non essential travel.

Northbound motorists are diverting off the motorway at Berowra onto the Pacific Highway before returning to the motorway at Cowan.

Southbound motorists are being diverted off the motorway at Cowan onto the Pacific Highway before returning to the motorway at Berowra.

Traffic in the area is extremely heavy and motorists already on the motorway are advised to expect significant delays.

Emergency services and traffic crews remain on site working to free the occupant of the truck who is trapped.
