Two Children Dead After Greenacre School Crash

In breaking news, it has been confirmed that two children have died after the crash at a Greenacre school this morning.

The two eight-year-old boys were critically injured with multiple traumas and were urgently conveyed to Westmead Children's Hospital, according to NSW Police.

At approximately 9.45am, a Toyota Kluger crashed into a demountable classroom at Banskia Road Public School, Greenacre in Sydney's south-west.

There were 30 children inside the classroom at the time, participating in their morning Arabic class, according to 9 News.

A father of a child at the school was first on the scene as he lives across the road, and he and three tradies helped to lift the 4WD to free several children trapped beneath it.

It is understood that at least three other children sustained minor injuries, such as broken bones and cuts.

"Obviously it was a scene of carnage," NSW Ambulance Superintendent Stephanie Radnidge said.

"There were a number of distressed and overwhelmed children and teachers at the scene of a horrible accident.

"There was obviously pandemonium.

"On arrival, paramedics were confronted with a very distressing scene with a number of persons injured.

"Once all people have been treated and assessed a total of five patients were transported to the Westmead Children's Hospital."

Police do not believe that the crash was deliberate.

More to come.
