The Best Ways To Spend New Year's Day In Sydney

Stuck with no idea how to spend the first day 2018?

Well say no more, here's the best things to escape the hangover (or get the kids out of the house) this New Year's Day!

Become A Tourist In Your Own City

Life can get the better of us sometimes and we truly miss out on appreciating what a beautiful city we live in.

So why not go out and explore what Sydney has to offer.

You can venture out into the City via Public Transport, with all Transport still running as normal.

Once in the City there is a plethora of things to see; Catch a Ferry and explore the Harbour on the way to Taronga Zoo, stick around Darling Harbour and visit the Aquarium or maybe snap a selfie in front of the World famous Sydney Harbour Bridge or Opera House

For The Sport's Lovers

If you just can't get enough of sport, there are two huge sporting events taking place this New Year's Day, both within a 100 metres from each other.

First at 6pm, catch the Sydney Thunder's Big Bash Cricket clash with Hobart Hurricanes at Spotless Stadium.

Then just next door at ANZ Stadium, from 8pm A-League side the Western Sydney Wanderers battle with the big spending Melbourne City.

Head Outdoors

Nothing beats a hangover like some good old vitamin D and there's plenty of options to do so.

Why not head down and complete the Bronte to Bondi walk, filled with beautiful coastal views finished off with a swim in the Bondi Beach surf

You can escape the city altogether and head on a self-guided hike of the Blue Mountains, to really make good use of that New Year's resolution.

Or why not grab the picnic blanket and umbrella and set up in one our beautiful parks across the city.

Stay Indoors

You could escape the heat or rain by spending time indoors with a variety of options on offer.

Take advantage of New Year's sales, with most shopping centres operating to public holiday trading hours (10m-4pm).

Why not catch the latest movie at the cinemas, take the kids visit the Powerhouse Museum or continuing celebrating the New Year at your local pub or club.
