The Border's in for a scorcher today with the mercury tipped to hit 40 degrees around certain parts of the North East.

We're being urged to make sure we drink plenty of water, keep out of the sun and rest up as the sun beams down.

Ambulance Victoria State Health Commander, Paul Holman says it's not just about us though and we should check up on loved ones who may be susceptible to this weather, like the elderly.
