Court again today for Michael Cardamone, as the Border's been left reeling to hear the details of Karen Chetcuti's last moments.

Crown Prosecutor Gavin Silbert yesterday told the Wangaratta Magistrates Court that Cardamone allegedly drugged the 49-year-old mum of two, before he bound, bashed and burnt her alive in January last year.

The Whorouly woman's body was found five days later at Lake Buffalo.

Fairfax Media reports Cardamone used Ms Chetcuti's mobile phone to fake her disappearance and cover his tracks.
