No luck for Border tennis product Sam Groth in the Australian Open, suffering a defeat to Steve Darcis after round one of the men’s singles.

The 29-year-old's unforced errors the key to his downfall, succumbing 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 to the Belgian national in Melbourne yesterday.

The loss follows a small ATP comeback for Groth earlier in the year, winning a round at the Brisbane International and making it to the quarter final in the Canberra Challenger.
