NSW MINISTER FOR HEALTH STEPS UP TO FUND HYDROTHERAPY POOL REPAIRS

Member for Albury, Greg Aplin is pleased to announce the NSW Government will step up and fund the hydrotherapy pool repairs for Albury Wodonga Health (AWH).

“I have had the opportunity during the first week back in Parliament to raise public concerns relating to the hydrotherapy pool closure at AWH with the NSW Health Minister, Brad Hazzard.

“I am pleased to advise that Minister Hazzard has approved my request for urgent funding to cover all costs associated with the repairs for the hydrotherapy pool at AWH as a special one-off payment,” Mr Aplin said.

“Although AWH receive annual agreed funding contributions from the NSW Government for the day to day operation of their services, including maintenance, the community’s concerns have been heard and acted on.

“AWH provided an outline of their estimate costs of $80,000 this week which allowed my colleague, Bill Tilley and me to move forward to resolve the matter,” Mr Aplin said.

“Mr Tilley raised the matter in the Victorian Parliament, directing his comments to the Victorian Labor Minister for Health and is awaiting a response.”

“When I discussed the matter with Minister Hazzard he expressed his disappointment that the facility had ceased operating, the time taken to advise affected clients and the overall impact the closure has had on patients and community groups,” Mr Aplin said.

“The NSW Health Minister agreed a speedy resolution was required and approved the commitment for funding within days.

“Again, the NSW Coalition Government is happy to step up to ensure residents in need of this facility are not left stranded.

“The money’s there – now, back to AWH to get it done.”
