Emergency Warning - Barooga Rd, Mulwala (Federation LGA)

A bush fire is burning near Barooga Rd, approximately 4km north of Mulwala. The fire is out of control.

Current Situation

The fire is burning in a south to south easterly direction under strong north to westerly winds, in the vicinity of Tocumwal Road, Barooga Road and Savernake Road.

Residents in the area of Tocumwal Road, Barooga Road and Savernake Road, the north side of Mulwala and the Lakeside Estate are advised to seek shelter as the fire arrives.

Emergency Alert text messages have been sent to homes in the area

Aircraft are being sent to assist firefighters.

Advice

Only well prepared and actively defended homes can offer safety.

If you plan to leave, or you are not prepared and there is a safer place nearby, leave now if it is safe to do so.

If you are in doubt or it is not safe to leave, take shelter in a solid structure when the fire front arrives. Protect yourself from the heat of the fire. If you are caught in the path of the fire, you may die or be injured.
