Renewed calls for long-term North East Rail solution
Fed, Vic govts asked to meet community
Indi MP Cathy McGowan has urged the federal and Victorian governments to come together to figure out a long-term solution to North East Rail Line commuters' woes.
Ms McGowan made a speech to parliament yesterday, noting there are 23 restricted speed zones between Albury and Melbourne.
The Independent Member also outlining that those using public transport have to put up with V-Line services ranked among the worst for arrival and timeliness in the state.
She's said councils across the region - including Wodonga and Albury – have banded together to come up with solutions, as she says the two higher tiers of government have continued to fight over track maintenance.
