New stats show allegations of child sex abuse in the Catholic Church's district servicing the North East are the second highest for its Aussie districts.

Among the Sandhurst Diocese - which has ministries in Wodonga, Beechworth and Corryong among other locations – 14.7 per cent of priests were accused of the crimes over 60 years to 2010.

The revelation emerged in a submission by the church's Truth, Justice and Healing Council to the Royal Commission on Child Sexual Abuse yesterday.

Fairfax media reports the figure was surpassed only by the Diocese of Sale, while across the Catholic church, seven per cent of priests had been accused.
