Simply The Best 2017 Winners

Each year we ask you to beat the drum and celebrate The Border; whether it's to beat it for your suburb, beat it for small business, or beat it for those doing a ripper job in our community.  It’s all about showing local pride and showcasing the very best of the best in our own backyard.

So maybe you're looking for a tasty morsel to eat, or want a brand new 'do, perhaps you're looking for the place to help you realise those "New Year, new you" goals.

So as we bring in 2018, here's who you voted Simply The Best on The Border in 2017.

Best Coffee

50 Bean Street, Wodonga

It's just the best tasting coffee around. The best service - personalised service and very friendly people. Locally owned.. my husband and I won't go anywhere else!! - Michelle

Best Teacher

Darryl Brownlaw from Murray High School

I was lucky enough to have Mr Brownlaw for four years as a maths teacher and I cannot say how grateful I am for that. He is able to push students to achieve their own personal best, no matter what that is, and you can see he truly cares about what he is doing - Maddi

Best Gym/Fitness Centre

Fitness 24 Seven Wodonga and Lavington

I've spent the last 3 years of my life here. The most special thing about F24/7 is this; I've been given much more than just physical fitness. I have made lifelong friends and created memories that will stay with me forever. I have managed to blow the fun factor scale to the point of no return and my heart is bursting at the valves with gratitude. It's not the place, it's the people whom I've come to know and love. I've been lucky. It's my favourite place in the whole world - Anonymous

Friendly staff, awesome food (good vegetarian options!), and the icing on the cake is the cocktails - sophisticated, creative and delicious! - Gretchen

Best Hidden Gem

Escape Room Albury

It's the best team oriented place to go since Lazer tag! You can have all of your friends and family in one place solving loads of puzzles, all working together to escape the room under the time limit. I've been and it was amazing! It was filled with the best "Ah-ha!" moments, and absolutely hilarious to watch all of your friends or family run around like headless chickens trying to beat the time!  - Shelby

Best Sporting Club

Brave Hearts Dragon Boat Club

BHDBC is such an inclusive, warm, friendly club full of passionate, caring and wonderful people. We have fantastic coaches who believe in us and encourage us to better ourselves at every training session. The comradery in this club is unlike any I have known before. We have people of all ages paddling together, three generations of the one family. What other sport caters for that? Brave Hearts is the best! xx - Kellie

Best Pizza

Moonya Pizza & Pasta Wodonga

Love the pizza so many options!! Amazing staff and service. And good price for good pizza! - Amy

Best Hair/Beauty

Tease Hair Studio Lavington

Laura and Mel are just amazing.  They have great ideas and always do exactly what I want (even if it's a bit risky). They have great knowledge of what works and what could be tweaked to achieve to look you are after.  Most importantly though, they are people I'm comfortable to be around.  We can have a great chat, but when I've had a hard day they're ok to leave me to some quiet time.  Then there's the head massages! Oh my, I'm ready to book another appointment just for one of those!  - Brook

Best Charity

Brave Hearts on the Murray

Brave Hearts is a supportive and inclusive club. They not only raise funds for our community but they support locals when noone else understands what you are going through. Brave Hearts, for me, represents a chance to live life as well as I can for as long as I can. Brave Hearts have been there for me when I thought I could not jump over the challenging hurdles that confronted me. Thank you Brave Hearts for giving me hope and helping me believe in myself - Brenda
