Big news for jobs in the North, with the controversial Adani coal mine in CQ given the green light this morning.
A Final Investment Decision given approval, meaning pre-construction for the mine can start in September this year.
It’s set to boost employment here, with the 10,000 direct and indirect jobs created to include Townsville.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk was in Townsville for a ceremony this morning to make the announcement.
Adani also revealed contracts of more than 150 million dollars for the railway tracks for the rail link between the min and Abbot Point have been given to regional cities.
