Clive Palmer said he’s had encouraging and positive conversations around the use of the Port to get the Yabulu Refinery back up and running.
The Port of Townsville and Glencore have sat down with Mr Palmer this morning to discuss leases.
Some draft plans have been presented, which Mr Palmer said they will now spend the next couple of months looking over before getting back to them.
The 64-year-old hopes to sign off on the deal within 3 months.
Once pushed through Mr Palmer said it means they will be able to immediately employ 100 people.
