Man to face court

Woman critical following "random" stabbing

A woman has had emergency surgery and is fighting for life in the Townsville Hospital.

Police say the 35-year-old was attacked by a man while taking her bins out in Pimlico at 9.20pm

She has multiple stab wounds to the arms and chest after the incident on Latchford Street.

Police think the attack was random.

They have charged a man found in a nearby park a short time after.

The 40-year-old will be in the Townsville Magistrates Court today charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.
