Hearts broke across the north in April when the RSPCA adoption centre changed it's operations.
The gates closed on the Tompkins Road centre on a high note though, with all animals being adopted out prior to the Townsville City Council taking control of the pound.
RSPCA Queensland will be in town later this month to pick a suitable location that allows them to have a more retail presence.
Their goal is to have a site where they can combine adoption and fundraising services.
It's believed the location will represent a far different feel to the previous adoption shelter at the Bohle, and will be closer to the CBD.
