Townsville Police Describe Attack On One Of Their Own As A 'Dog Act'

A former soldier come police officer has been ganged up on during his duty on Sunday morning.

Upon arriving in Mount Louisa for a noise complaint follow up, the 33 year old Senior Constable was pushed to the ground and kicked in the face.

He was left with severe swelling, cuts, a fractured cheek, and broken nose.

He will be having surgery this week for his obtained injuries.

Inspector Damian Irvine says the body camp footage from the Karanya Street incident is terrifying.

"Any upstanding Australian would say that's a dog act of the worst nature, the thing that I'm concerned about is not only is it unacceptable, whether you take the police into account or not, doing that to anyone is unacceptable and there's a real fine line between grievous bodily harm and homicide, it could easily have been a death," explains Inspector Irvine.
