Astrid Neiberding lost her mum to Leukaemia in 2016, after an 18 month battle.
Treatment included a Bone Marrow Transplant in Brisbane and undergoing chemotherapy in Townsville.
It was all going to plan and Astrid’s mother was in remission, but sadly she had a relapse shortly after the transplant.
To celebrate her mum’s life, Astrid will trek to Mt Everest Base Camp this week while raising funds for the Leukaemia Foundation.
It has been a long road of training for the William Ross State High School Guidance Officer.
“Training has included 3-6 hour sessions of Mt Stuart -every weekend for past three months- and Castle Hill with an elevation training mask,” explains Astrid.
Astrid's love of adventure has driven her throughout her extensive training regime.
William Ross SHS have been a huge support system for the local woman, adding $500 to her fundraising goal of $4000.
Currently Astrid has raised $6140, you can support her by donating here.
