TSV RSPCA Animals Are Getting Into Origin Spirit

As the mighty Queensland Maroons prepare to bury the New South Wales Blues in another State of Origin showdown, another interstate challenge of a dif-fur-ent kind kicks off.

The RSPCA’s annual State of Adoption will see Queensland and New South Wales go head-to-head in a bid to rehome as many animals as possible across the 42-day State of Origin period – and the state that rehomes the most animals – wins!

To celebrate the launch of the State of Origin series, all long-term Townsville RSPCA dogs and cats will be just $99.

RSPCA Queensland spokesman Michael Beatty said behind the friendly rivalry was a serious message.

“Although it’s always nice to beat New South Wales on and off the field, the real prize is sending hundreds of animals to loving, forever homes,” Mr Beatty said.

“We have some amazing animals up for adoption at the RSPCA and I strongly encourage anyone looking for a new addition to the family to take advantage of this promotion, rather than buying from a pet shop.”

RSPCA Queensland is vying to win State of Adoption for the ninth year in a row, effectively beating the Maroons’ historic eight-year winning streak.

RSPCA Queensland Ambassador and Maroons player Matt Gillett is also throwing his support behind the cause, hoping it’ll be a double victory for Queensland.

“Last year, 2,180 pets were rehomed in Queensland and this year we are hoping to see even more adopted,” Mr Beatty said.
