There’s been a lot of planes flying overhead of late and you might be wondering why.
Today until 12pm the Townsville Airport are conducting a simulated Emergency Field Exercise which will test the effectiveness of the Airport Emergency Plan!
This’ll involve airport staff, stakeholders and other emergency agencies who would normally respond to a real-time emergency and will be happening offsite.
Public access will not be permitted into certain areas (which you can see below on the attached map)
Also for the next two weeks ‘Exercise Black Dagger’ will be happening which will involve planes (or F/A-18 Hornet jets and PC-9/A turboprop aircraft if you’re into specifics) flying out of Townsville’s RAAF Base and into the surrounding airspace.
So that’s why everything’s sounding like Top Gun at the moment.
