The Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre Summer Film Festival kicks off this month on January 13.

The festival has curated a lineup of nine films from around the globe made by some of the worlds most talented filmmakers.

BREC general manager Sharon Custers said audiences would not be disappointed with the festival lineup.

“Bunbury audiences have so much to look forward to in this years’ Summer Film Festival programme, including the CinefestOZ winner, Girl Asleep,” Ms Custers said.

The lineup includes French film Up for Love, a romantic comedy staring Oscar winner Jean Durjardin who takes romance to new heights to win a date with lawyer Diane played by Virginie Elfira.

Steven McGregor’s powerful documentary Servant or Slave recounts the stories of five women who were stolen from their families and trained to be domestic servants.

The Italian comedy Where and I Going has been reported as the highest grossing film in Italian cinema history.

The Family Fang comes out of the United States and is based on Kevin Wilson’s best-selling novel and stars Hollywood A-listers Jason Bateman and Nicole Kidman.

The Family Fang will take a provocative look at what it’s like to come of age as a child with very eccentric parents.

UK filmmaker Ken Loach will be represented on screen with his funny social realist drama I Daniel Blake, winner of the Palme d’Or – Cannes Film Festival.

Other films to be featured in the 2017 festival include Isabelle Huppert’s standout performance as a woman turning the tables on her attacker in the French film Elle.

Wednesday May 9 out of Iran was the winner of the FIPRESCI Award at the Vienna International Film Festival and feel-good film Rosalie Blum from France was written and directed by Julien Rappeneau.

BREC will also be opening their doors to the public on Australia day for the City of Bunbury Skyfest on January 26.
