Community TAB and Bunbury Trotting Club will join forces to raise funds for local Bunbury man, Sean Pollard, to attend the winter Paralympics at the annual New Year’s Eve Bunbury Trotting Club Cup Night.

This initiative is part of Community TAB’s program that has been running since early 2015 that sees it partner with every race club in WA to raise funds for local not-for-profit organisations.
Community TAB has agreed to match dollar for dollar all funds raised at the New Year’s Eve Cup Night, up to $2,000.

Racing and Wagering WA (RWWA) Chairman Jeff Ovens said Community TAB is excited to be able to continue this program for a second year to remain highlighting the strong connection race clubs have with the communities in which they operate.
“Race clubs across WA play an important role in their community contributing both economically and socially,” Mr Ovens said.
“Community TAB is proud to play our own part in giving back to the community by partnering with our race clubs around WA.
“Our donation to Sean Pollard is one of more than 50 community groups or individuals that will be supported as part of Community TAB’s $150million contribution to the WA community this year.”

After successfully raising $2000 for Bunbury Senior Citizens and Binningup Surf Life Saving in 2015, which Community TAB matched, Bunbury Trotting Club is once again putting their hand up to fundraise to support locally. Bunbury Trotting Club General Manager Julie Caldwell said the Community TAB program with WA race clubs is a fantastic initiative.

“Sean Pollard is a local man who lost both of his arms in a shark attack in Esperance two years ago, who is now aspiring to compete at the winter Paralympics,” Ms Caldwell said.

“The funds raised at our New Year’s Eve Cup Night and then matched by Community TAB will go towards specialised equipment for Mr Pollard for downhill skiing and snowboarding, as well as travel expenses.”
Funds will be raised on New Year’s Eve night through raffles and sausage sizzles.
