Bunbury said a warm “g’day” to 31 people from all corners of the globe who became Australian citizens at a special ceremony last night.

The citizenship ceremony welcomed people from 12 different nations as diverse as Iran, Fiji, the United Kingdom and the Philippines who have chosen to call Bunbury home.

Last night’s ceremony was one of several hosted by the City of Bunbury each year. So far in 2017, 55 residents have become Australian citizens while in 2016, 139 people took oath.

Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan said one of the city’s great strengths was its culturally diverse community.

“The many families who have come to Bunbury from so many different parts of the world have enriched our community and society by contributing in so many different ways,” Mr Brennan said.
