On Friday January 13, the Busselton Naturalists Club will hold its annual Meelup Moonrise Walk from Dunsborough to Meelup Beach.
The full moon only rises over Geographe Bay in the early evening after dark a couple of times each year.
This excursion allows for an enjoyable short walk while the sun is still up and a BYO picnic meal on the lawn or beach at Meelup, followed by the rising of the full moon - and it's all happening on Friday the 13th!
The easy 4km walk starts at the Dunsborough boat ramp and follows the well-formed coastal track past Castle Rock Bay to Meelup.
It starts at 5.30pm, with a bus leaving from the former Busselton Visitor Centre car park at 5.00pm for Busselton-based participants.
At the conclusion of the evening, walkers will be taken back to their cars by the bus or they will be returned to Busselton.
Cost of the bus is $10 per person from Busselton to Dunsborough return or $3 from Meelup back to Dunsborough.
In past years, over 100 people have taken part in this annual walk, usually joining another 200 people at Meelup to enjoy the rise of the full moon.
