What an honour for our own Bridge!

Gold FM’s Bridge Daley: Batonbearer for the GC2018 Queen's Baton Relay

With just six months to go until the Commonwealth Games hits the Gold Coast, Gold FM breakfast announcer Bridge Daley has been named as a Batonbearer for the Gold Coast 2018 Queen's Baton Relay.

Bridge will join a select group of people who will have the honour of carrying the Queen's Baton as it travels around Australia on its 100-day journey to the Opening Ceremony of the XXI Commonwealth Games. Day 98, just two days out from the games, will be Bridge’s time to shine!

Bridge was nominated by two Gold FM listeners for her work with the Gold Coast Community for raising awareness for domestic violence.

She is the brains behind what has become the Gold Coast’s biggest and official white ribbon charity event – Gold 92.5’s ‘Stand Up to Domestic Violence’.

The annual event held at Currumbin is now in its third year and concentrates on raising awareness of domestic violence, as well as being a day of healing for those affected and raising money for domestic violence sanctuaries for victims and their children. Legal services and the police also attend the day to provide an opportunity for victims to talk to them in a safe environment.

Upon receiving her selection letter, Bridge said, “To be a part of the Commonwealth Games is such a huge deal!

“I certainly wasn’t going to make it as an athlete so to have the chance to be part of the Queens Baton Relay. To be nominated for my work with domestic violence is a huge honour and I am very proud to represent the Gold Coast.”
