Changes Coming To Our Schools

How Are Your Kids Doing?

Article heading image for Changes Coming To Our Schools

It's been a long time since I was at school and more than a decade since I had a child at school so I'm a little out of touch with day to day education, the methods of teaching and expected outcomes.

Like many of my vintage I do decry the apparent loss of language skills and I wonder if primary school students could add up a string of figures in their head, something that has been shown in literacy tests from time to time.

Of course it's a whole new world and technology is taking us over and this is being addressed by another report from David Gonski, released this week.

Among other points it highlights the work teachers do, sometimes in very, very trying circumstances, and asks for teachers to be given far greater respect both in the classroom and outside of school.

A little R E S P E C T would go a long way and anecdotal evidence shows parents can be the worst.

So here we are, Gonski 2.0 is out there for discussion and Education Ministers will be examining it this week.

What I'd like to know from you is how your kids are going at school and do you think changes are needed, if so, what?
